2010 Burton New Zealand Open
The 2010 Burton New Zealand Open kicked off yesterday, with today being the last day for rider registration. The events run through the 14th, with Some solid names are there, including Okemo's Benji Farrow. He is the leader after two runs in the Men's Slopestyle Pre-Qualifier, so look for him in the main event. The event is free, and so are the concerts following the events. For more information if you happen to be in New Zealand, visit the BNZO site.

Knife Show Video Contest
The guys over at Knife Show are running a "Snow and Skate Contest" through the end of next week. All you need to do is upload a video in this thread, then sweat out the results. The winner is hand chosen by Casey himself, and gets the Knife Show hoodie featured to the right. So far only a few entries have been submitted, and this thing is absolutely still winable.

Featured Photo - Week of August 9th
This weeks photo comes to us from Swedish photographer proboarder at deviantART. Using an EOS1, 28-70 2.8L with booster, he was able to catch this backflip sequence and merge it into this glorious photo.
Think you can do better? Prove it.

2010-2011 Winter Forecast
Accuweather.com has posted their way-too-early-to-be-right forecast for the 2010-2011 winter. While it's most likely not going to be correct, any mention of snow in the forecast this time of year is worth a look. According to this prediction, the Northwest is the place to be this winter, with a 50/50 shot of a good winter in the Northeast. We could use a solid one up here.

Go Big or Go Home
"I'm With Stupid" teaser from Chad Otterstrom and Role Model Productions. Some pretty epic fails in the first part, including the font. Rosewood? Really?

Australia Opens Up Superpipe
Perisher has taken advantage of the recent dumping in Australia to open up the continent's only Superpipe. Yea, that's right, we're playing the "Australia as a continent" card. Just sounds more impressive that way. It's 328 feet long, 52 feet wide and has walls at 17 feet. To celebrate the opening, Perisher is giving away a chance to ride with Torah Bright for a day. Not a bad deal.

Burton 2011 Site Launch
Burton rolled out their 2011 site today, and I gotta say, vast improvements were made. It responds a lot quicker than the previous site, and is just sleeker overall. The layout seems simplified, and it is much more user friendly than last year. Also, they have completely revamped the team pages. This year, they have put timelines of riders careers as well as "lookbooks" on each shot to let you know what's being worn and what set up is being used. It's a pretty impressive upgrade, so take a look for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Featured Photo
This weeks featured photo comes from luisah on deviantART. The glare from the sun and the colors reflecting off the snow create great effects, but check out the snow subtly trailing behind the rider. Just a great shot.
Got something better? Send it over for your shot to be the featured photo.

Argentinean Pow
It's winter down in the southern hemisphere, and we're all jealous of the 20 inch plus dumping Australia just got. They're not the only place getting some fresh - check out this video from SASS, down in Argentina.

Knife Show's Gnarcade
This has got to be the best video released so far this year. Knife Show released their video Gnarcade a couple weeks ago, but seeing as how this site started just recently, it's just getting posted now. According to the guys over at Knife Show, this video took over a year to edit. Personally, I'd say every minute spent on it was worth it. Gotta love reliving the 8-bit era. Check out the video below.

Burton 2011 Catalog
The Burton 2011 catalog arrived in the mail today, and it is very, very tempting. The first thing I did was check and see the improvements to the setup I already have, and I gotta say, I'm slightly upset. My first board was a Bullet, and now, that board is rocker. Right now, I would love to have a rocker board for park, but I'm sure learning with the reduced grip that comes with a rocker would have made things tougher. Anyone else get the Burton catalog, or any other catalog? What do you think about this year's gear?

Fresh Start
This site is about collaboration. This site is about getting a start. So if you have a couple photos you think are sick, but don't know what to do with them or don't want to spend the time doing anything with them, send 'em over. I'll publish them. If you have a video that YoBeat or Transworld won't publish, and you want another spot for it to be up at besides your own profile on Vimeo, send it over. It'll get a spot here. We're all just trying to have some fun and make it in this world, so lets get going.
Get at me on Twitter or send your photos/video over to stash.slash@gmail.com.

In the Beginning...
The goal of this site is to keep up to date with the snowboard industry. Yes, there are a ton of sites out there like this. And yes, I will probably change the look of this a lot in the beginning, and may even switch from Wordpress. But damn it, I'm going to give it a shot. So here goes nothing.
